Herb Cream Cheese, Smoked Trout & Chives Bites On Pita Bread

These smoked trout bites are the perfect combination of creamy, smoky, and zesty. Soft pita rounds are topped with herb-infused cream cheese and flakes of rich, hot-smoked trout, then finished with fresh chives and lemon.
Light and flavorful, they make a crowd-pleasing appetizer, brunch bite, or upscale snack that’s as beautiful as it is delicious.

1 bag of mini pitas (or substitute)

1/2 cup cream cheese, softened

1 tbsp fresh chives, finely chopped (plus extra for garnish)

1 tbsp fresh dill or parsley, chopped

1 tsp lemon zest

1 tsp lemon juice

Salt & freshly ground black pepper, to taste

100g (3.5 oz) hot-smoked trout, flaked

Optional: capers, microgreens, or thinly sliced radish for garnish

Prepare the herb cream cheese
In a small bowl, mix the softened cream cheese with chopped chives, dill or parsley, lemon zest, lemon juice, salt, and pepper until smooth and well combined. -
Prep the pita
Lightly toast the pita if desired, then cut into small wedges or rounds using a knife or cookie cutter. -
Assemble the bites
Spread a generous layer of the herb cream cheese on each pita piece. Top with a flake or two of smoked trout. -
Garnish
Sprinkle with extra chives and add optional garnishes like capers, microgreens, or radish slices for texture and color. -
Serve immediately
